Our 3D Printer is up and Running!

Thanks to a generous donation to our school, we have a professional grade 3D Printer in the media center.  Students will be able to create their own designs and we will print them in the order we receive them.  Links for sites to create 3D files are on the Media Wiki.  Photos below show a fidget spinner being printed - it took about 6 1/2 hours to print.

99.9 FM - The Lion's Roar

Our first radio broadcast of the new school year is out thanks to Caroline and Lilli! They chose a topic, researched it, wrote a script, practiced, and then came to the media center to record. Their broadcast loops - so it plays over and over - on 99.9 FM - and you can pick it up on your radio as long as you are in close vicinity to Brookwood. I am so very proud of these girls for taking the initiative to do this on their own. We have several other broadcast teams this year, too, so I am hoping for lots of variety this year.

Summer Reading Celebration 2017

We hosted two summer reading parties today to celebrate all of our students who took time this summer to read and keep a log of the books they completed. We had 130 students!!! WOOHOO!!! A BIG THANK YOU to our volunteers for your help today, too!

The lower grades came first - student chose a bracelet and a bag (to hold all of the treasures they were about to pick up) and then went table to table to decide on an item they wanted from each table. All student received a minimum of 2 hard cover books and one paperback book PLUS lots of other prizes.  Student who also sent a reading photo for the blog received an additional hard cover book!

Wow! Once again we had too many students for one party! So we hosted TWO parties in the media center - one for the lower graders and one just for 4th and 5th graders. Here is the media center set up for the FIRST party.
