We had lots of fun participating once again in the "Hour of Code."  We had both "unplugged" and plugged in activities!

Lola Schaefer Visits Brookwood

Kindergarten through 3rd grade enjoyed their visits with author Lola Schaefer today.  Lucky for me, I was at all four presentations and they were all so different - perfect for each grade!  We learned how Mrs. Schaefer gets ideas for her books, how she researches to be sure the facts were right, facts that didn't make it into the books, the stories behind some of the books and so much more!

       

'Tis the Season

Hour of Code

This is our fifth year participating in the annual Hour of Code in the Media Center.  It is officially next week, but 4th and 5th graders started this week. 5th graders learned some basic HTML codes and 4th graders enjoyed some unplugged coding by playing a game to learn how packets travel.

Upcoming Author Visit

We are so excited! Author Lola Schaefer will be returning to Brookwood on Monday, December 4th. Some of our favorite books by Mrs. Schaefer are, "Because of an Acorn," "Arrowhawk," "One Special Day, " "Lifetime, " and of course, her newest book, Hidden Dangers." She will spend the day visiting with kindergarten through 3rd graders. Check back next week for pictures from the visit!
