Our next book fair opens on February 1st and will be open during school hours, until February 8th when we will close promptly at noon. We will have LOTS of wonderful books! In addition, we will have a VIRTUAL (online) book fair that will start on January 29th and run for one week longer than the school book fair. The online fair will have even more choices and all purchases will ship FREE to your child at school.
Visit out Book Fair Homepage for more info or to sign up to volunteer!

Kindergarten through 3rd grade enjoyed their visits with author Lola Schaefer today. Lucky for me, I was at all four presentations and they were all so different - perfect for each grade! We learned how Mrs. Schaefer gets ideas for her books, how she researches to be sure the facts were right, facts that didn't make it into the books, the stories behind some of the books and so much more!

We are so excited! Author Lola Schaefer will be returning to Brookwood on Monday, December 4th. Some of our favorite books by Mrs. Schaefer are, "Because of an Acorn," "Arrowhawk," "One Special Day, " "Lifetime, " and of course, her newest book, Hidden Dangers." She will spend the day visiting with kindergarten through 3rd graders. Check back next week for pictures from the visit!

Fourth and fifth graders enjoyed their visit with Author Lois Ruby and her husband, Dr. Tom Ruby today. Mrs. Ruby shared information about her books and the process of writing them and took time to answer questions, too.
Mrs. Ruby signed books for students after each author session. Here are a few pictures (I am having printed copies made for each student and will be passing those out when I have them!).
In the afternoon, seven students from each homeroom were able to attend a special writing workshop conducted by Mrs. Ruby.
