Kindergartners are learning how to find and choose their own library books. They have learned that books are alphabetical by the author's last name and how to use shelf markers. Once they have found a book that looks interesting, they mark the book's location on the shelf with the marker while they look through the book to be sure it is the one they want. If they choose not to check out that book, the shelf marker helps to ensure that our books are returned to their proper spot. If they want to check out the book, they take the book and the shelf marker to the check out station. Once kindergartners have learned this procedure, they may come to the library with a pass to check out new books.

Come to the Book Fair!
What crazy weather last week - missing school on Wednesday and early dismissal on Friday! I know many people may have not had time to think about the book fair. But we are here this week and open for business - so PLEASE come and take a look around at all the wonderful books.
Remember we have an ONLINE book fair, too - so if you don't see what you are looking for here, just visit the online fair and you are sure to find something. Online orders will be shipped free of charge to Brookwood and should arrive near the end of next week. Scroll to the bottom of this link to shop: http://bit.ly/bkwdbooks

Pre-K "Snow" Day
The cold weather this week had us thinking about snow. We read a couple of fiction books about snow and snowmen and also a non-fiction book about snow by Lola Schaefer (who visited here a while back). That really put us in the mood for snow! So - with no snow on the ground, what else could we do except make some snow magic right in the media center!?!

Happy New Year!
Happy New Year and welcome back! We have some new books and new ebooks to start off the year. You can find a resource list of these books in Destiny Quest. Look for "January 2016 New Books" in the resource lists located on the center of the home page. Students will need to use their credentials (0 + 5 digit student number) and the password "12345" to open the electronic books. A big THANK YOU to the Brookwood PTA for the funding to purchase these titles!
